  • Do you already demonstrate leadership skills in your community, workplace, field of study, sports code or volunteer capacity?
  • Do you have a good, positive attitude and are you a team player?
  • Do you demonstrate a drive to succeed?
If you can answer yes to the above then the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA ) is the right platform to take you to the next level.

RYLA is a 5 or 6 day long live-in leadership development camp run by Rotary. It and includes presentations, activities, and workshops covering a variety of topics, including:
  • communication skills
  • problem-solving and conflict management
  • community and global citizenship
RYLA participants are nominated by their local Rotary clubs, which often cover all expenses associated with the program or by corporate sponsor like an employer.

You can also be sponsored by your place of work or industry you work within or community group you associate with. Please ask your local Rotary representative for more information on corporate or industry sponsorship. Or you may like to approach your employer or leader of an organisation you belong to, to sponsor you.  You will still need a Rotary Club to endorse your Application and help is available to find one for you.

If you are an employer and wish to sponsor someone within your business, please get in touch with your local Rotary representative or email applications.d9980ryla@gmail.com or phone Lee-Ann on 021343506 for more information.

You can apply in one of two ways:

  • by completing the on-line RYLA Application form
  • by downloading an Application form and other associated paperwork and handing / posting the completed application form to your local Rotary representative.
You will then be required to have a suitability interview.

All Application forms and interviews must be completed and received by the RYLA District Committee before 20th December 2020. It is recommended that you begin the registration process before the end of November to ensure time for interviews and selection.

Late applications may be considered if there are spaces available. If you are late submitting your application, please email the RYLA District Committee directly at applications.d9980ryla@gmail.com to make your enquiries.

Successful Applicants will be notified of their acceptance within 20 working days of receipt of the candidate endorsement form from their sponsoring Rotary Club, or by January 3rd 2021 at the latest.

Applications will only be considered for those with a residential address within New Zealand.
