Rotary Clubs across the lower South Island have been working with The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International's highly-regarded charity, on projects to improve the lives of people in many parts of the world.

Current projects include the "End Polio" campaign which aims to eradicate polio so that no more children's lives are blighted by this crippling disease. This programme has been under way since 1998; only three countries (Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan) have new cases appearing; Nigeria has had none since 2016; Afghanistan, 7 cases this year, and Pakistan, 1 case this year.  Read more about this important programme here.

The Waimate Rotary Club has been a leader in support for the Foundation raising an amazing $17,236 from their auction to support the Foundation's work.
